About

Debbie Bean is a Los Angeles–based multidisciplinary artist who translates the colors and rhythms of the natural landscape into light-responsive environments. Working across stained glass, landscape design, and fine art, she creates compositions that shift with illumination, revealing different states over time and inviting viewers into spaces that are alive, temporal, and contemplative.
Foremost recognized for her stained glass practice, Debbie has developed a distinctive visual language that transforms architecture through dynamic interactions of light and color. Her expansion into landscape design and watercolor emerged organically as clients sought her vision to reimagine their environments more holistically. Whether through a site-specific installation, a garden that unfolds seasonally, or an intimate work on paper, her approach remains rooted in intuitive experimentation and a deep sensitivity to place.
Influenced by intensive study with Tibetan master artist Venerable Lama Nawang Thogmed, Bauhaus principles, and ongoing technical exploration, her work bridges fine art and environmental design. Prestigious design firms such as AvroKO, House of Honey, and The Bureau have commissioned her for significant installations, including the Michelin-rated Prelude Restaurant in San Francisco, Courtyard Marriott in Pasadena, and Caymus-Suisun Winery. Private collectors seek her expertise to create residential spaces that blur the boundaries between art and architecture. Increasingly, her practice extends beyond private commissions, engaging with larger spatial narratives where light, landscape, and material shape shared experience.
Featured in Architectural Digest, San Francisco Chronicle, LA Times, C Magazine, and Forbes, Debbie has built a reputation as an innovator who moves fluidly between disciplines. Through select brand collaborations on limited edition collections and strategic partnerships, she continues to explore the transformative potential of light, color, and material in both public and private realms.
