Meditation Installation

SCOPE OF WORK - 3 stained glass panels housed in metal frame measuring 2'W x 8.5'H.
DETAILS - Originally exhibited in 2015, this collaborative installation occupied the front windows of Jackknife Records and invited visitors into an immersive meditative experience. At its center stood a towering triptych of stained glass panels designed and fabricated by Debbie Bean, paired with compositions by Miles Cooper Seaton and an interactive SubPac tactile bass system that enveloped visitors in sound and vibration.
Debbie approached the making of the panels with a focus on precision and subtle atmospheric effect. She meticulously aligned sheets of waterglass so that their vertical texture contrasted with the diagonal lead lines of the composition. This alignment creates a quiet visual tension, guiding the eye upward while allowing light to ripple gently through the surface. The result is a sense of movement that feels both intentional and natural, anchoring the installation’s contemplative and otherworldly atmosphere. The color palette, informed by studies in color psychology, was chosen to soothe and uplift, transforming the storefront into a sanctuary for focus and reflection.
In late 2022, following the passing of Miles Cooper Seaton, Debbie reinstalled the panels in a durable metal frame to ensure their preservation as a long-term installation. The renewed work stands as both a testament to Seaton’s legacy and an enduring expression of Debbie’s commitment to glass as a medium for transformation and shared experience.
